Rafael Cambra

Rafael Cambra's family has long worked with vine seedlings, developing the best possible vine starters for future vineyards. Among the customers of the family nursery are Vega Sicilia and Alvaro Palacios. With this, Rafael got excited about winemaking at a young age, and sought his lessons in France. After returning to Valencia, he continued working in the family business, starting to slowly plan his own career as a winemaker. He found 50-year-old ungrafted Monastrell vines, with which he founded his own cellar in 2001. Rafael's first own wine was 100% Monastrell, vintage 2001 Uno. In addition to the Monastrell vines, Rafael established a few orchards where he densely planted Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc.

Located in the small village of Fontanars dels Alforins in Valencia with 800 inhabitants, the vineyards of the winery are located at an altitude of about 630 meters in calcareous clay soil. The dry Mediterranean climate also allows almond and olive trees to grow alongside the vineyards. The winery's production is guided by the principle of minimal intervention, which extends from the nurseries to the cellar and bottling. The vineyards are managed with natural methods and the goal is to bring out the characteristics of each grape as well as possible.

Among the selections of Viinitie, you can find Soplo, 100% Garnacha Tintorera, which has been awarded with the highest points by the international wine press.
