Greener Planet
The Greener Planet wine brand began in 2006 when wine writer Robert Joseph, winemaker Hugh Ryman, and graphic designer Kevin Shaw decided to launch a truly environmentally responsible wine line. The idea behind the brand's production was also to help contract farmers move towards more organic farming methods and thus also better working conditions. It was not enough for the gentlemen that the grapes used for the wines were certified for organic production. In addition to this, they decided to pack their wine in much lighter, recyclable and unbreakable plastic bottles than glass bottles. In addition, they donate a portion of each bottle sold to the international charity Water Aid.
The grapes used for the wines are obtained from farms in the south of France, many of which are already familiar to the gentlemen from their first joint wine project, Le Grand Noir. White wine is made from Marsanne and Chardonnay varieties and red wine from Cabernet Sauvignon. The wines are made on the premises of Cellier Jean d'Alibert.
The producer has an Ecocert certificate.
