Chronic Cellars
Wines from Chronic Cellars are remembered for their vintage appearance, but vintage is also the place where the wines are born, not to mention the contents of the bottles.
The wine brand started twenty years ago when Josh and Jake Beckett decided to combine their quirky humor with their winemaking skills. Growing up in a wine-producing family, the brothers were used to cleaning barrels, extracting grapes and working on the bottling line from a young age. In 2004, however, it was time to start producing completely our own wines. The bottles, covered with labels that shake the legalities and traditions of the wine world, hide blends made from the orchards of Paso Robles, which winemaker Kip Lorenzetti prepares from the grapes of the best wine growers in the region. Kip, who has worked as a winemaker in California's Central Coast region for more than a decade, is known specifically for his red wine blends, which he has made during his career from both Bordeaux and Rhône typical varieties. All Chronic Cellars wines are also blends based on one main variety.
Paso Robles is especially known for the grapes that grow in bushy vines and thrive in warm climates, which in the case of Chronic Cellars are cultivated without artificial irrigation. After visiting the area and noticing several almond trees growing there, the Becketts realized that the area would also be suitable for vines without the need to build artificial irrigation systems. The area's limestone soil absorbs water like clay, which is why even during the driest months of the year the crops remain vigorous. The almost aromatic area is an incredible sight with its thick-stemmed vines. The farm's nurseries are located in different subdivisions of Paso Robles, in Adelaida, Paso Robles Willow Creek, Paso Robles Estrella, Paso Robles Geneseo, Paso Robles Highlands, San Juan Creek, San Miguel, Creston and El Pomar. The farm's tasting room is located in the Adelaide District.
Chronic Cellars' extraordinary labels featuring swashbuckling skeleton characters were designed by San Francisco Bay Area artist Chris Granillo. Chronic Cellars' wines are all about serious wines for wine drinkers who don't take themselves too seriously.
