The name of the wine honors the origin of the grapes: the sandy Navarre desert.

Terroir, method of production and maturation: The grapes used for the wine are picked by hand and come from organically certified orchards inside the largest desert in Europe, Las Bardenas Reales. Grapes used for wine ferment in cement tanks at 18-24°C. Both alcoholic fermentation and malolactic conversion occur naturally. The wine matures in old oak barrels made from both French, Hungarian and American oak. The wine stabilizes in the cool winter and a small amount of sulfur dioxide is added during both malolactic fermentation and bottling.

Use: Lamb sausage or with heavily seasoned pork tenderloin and cabbage salad.

Description: Dark fruity aroma with ripe raspberry, dark cherry and spiciness. The taste is soft and refreshing, the tannins are felt but fine, and the aftertaste is lingering.

Azul y Garanza Bodegas

Azul y Garanza Bodegas

What on earth leads talented oenologists to make wine in the middle of the desert? In the case of Azul y Garanza, the question is quite relevant, as the winery is located in the middle of Spain's largest desert, Las Bardenas Reales, in the province of Navarra. According to the boundary-breaking winemaking trio, María Barrena, her brother Fernando Barrena and Dani Sánchez, the answer doesn't have to be searched from afar.
