Viinitie's very own riesling!

Terroir, production method and maturation: Pfaffenberg hill is located about 300 meters from the German border on the French side, directly at the intersection of the French Vosges and the German Haardt mountains. The upper part of the plots is limited to the protected natural forest on both sides of the borders. As the name suggests, it is an old German vineyard that remained on the French side after the redraw of the borders during the Second World War. The orientation of the shelter is southeast and the soil is almost pure limestone. Palsta's wines are categorically rather high-acid and ripen relatively late. There is practically no risk of frost due to the direction of the shelter and the constant winds blowing from the bottom of the valley. Raja's garden is only 0.2 hectares in size and there are seven rows of vines. The skins of the grapes are allowed to extract with the juice for 40-60 hours, depending on the vintage. After that, the bunches are pressed slowly, for about six hours. The wine ferments spontaneously for a very long time, about 5 months. The wine matures in a steel tank on top of the lees for 5 months. Residual sugar 15.4 g/l, acids 8.7 g/l.

Use: A versatile food wine that can be used as a partner for many fish and vegetable dishes.

Description: Aromatic and floral scent with ripe lemon. The rich taste is very clean, richly acidic and mineral. The aftertaste is remarkably long.

Raja

Raja Riesling is about the long-term dream of the entire Viinitie gang, which began to materialize in the spring of 2012, when we rented our own small plot from Friedrich Becker. Our small plot of 0,2 hectares is located in northern Alsace, on the outskirts of the town of Wissembourg, right on the German border, at the confluence of the Vosges and Haardt mountains.
